Carlishia Hood filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against the City of Chicago and four arresting officers Tuesday. The lawsuit follows prosecutors dropping murder charges against Hood and her 14-year-old son in the murder of Jeremy Brown on Monday, as reported by The Shade Room.

Hood, 35, accused the defendants of “malicious prosecution, false arrest, and intentional infliction of emotional distress” in her lawsuit, as per the New York Post.

Carlishia Hood, Son Tearfully Embrace After Murder Charges Dropped As She Files Lawsuit

“I’ve experienced pain in many ways that I would never have thought,” she said following her release at a news conference Tuesday. ”What happened to me was totally unnecessary. Never in a million years would I have imagined being brutally attacked, beaten, and arrested.”

She continued: “On June 18 of this year my life changed. My son’s life changed.”

Meanwhile, Hood’s attorney Ari Williams told the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday, “Ms. Hood is and has always been a victim.”

Brandon Brown, another lawyer for Hood, has also hinted that “additional lawsuits” will be “forthcoming,” as reported by New York Post.

“We do not take what happened to Ms. Hood lightly… there will be additional lawsuits forthcoming.”

The Shooting And Immediate Aftermath, Video Of Tearful Embrace Goes Viral

As The Shade Room previously reported, Hood and her son were arrested after the teen fatally shot Jeremy Brown, 32. In the video, Brown could be seen repeatedly punching Hood in the face at a Chicago hot dog stand.

Hood and her son later turned themselves in to authorities.

She was held on $3 million bail after initially being charged last week with first-degree murder and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her son, who was not named due to his age, was also hit with murder charges at first.

Both were released from the Cook County Jail Monday after prosecutors said they could not “meet our burden of proof in the prosecution of these cases.”

A heartwarming reunion clip went viral after their release as Hood and her teen son tearfully embraced for the first time since their arrest.

Prosecutors later said that Hood has a valid FOID (firearm owner’s identification) card. As well as a concealed-carry permit, The Shade Room reported on Monday.

Nicki Minaj Posts In Support Of Carlishia Hood’s Teenage Son, Offers To Pay For His College Tuition

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to applaud Hood’s son for quickly springing into action and defending his mother. The rapper even offered to pay for the teen’s college tuition should he decide to attend.

“That 14-year-old boy that backed that hammer out on that grown a** man punching his mother in the face as if she were a MAN; is a true hero. If he wants to go to college, I’d love to help. It’s what ANY son should’ve done for their MOTHER.”

Nicki praised Hood for raising “a dope kid” and added she “should be so proud” of him.

“She raised a dope kid & should be so proud. Also, God knew b4 she knew; that she’d be attacked that day & made sure they had protection on deck. God is GOOD.”

This is a developing story. Be sure to check back in with The Shade Room for more updates as they come.
