Singer-songwriter and chef, Kelis is said to have a new beau in her life. According to U.K. gossip publication The Sun, the 43-year-old is dating 72-year-old actor and comedian Bill Murray. The Sun says that the two have been “getting close for a while” after first meeting in the U.S., taking their love connection to the U.K. where Murray is filming Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Kelis, born Kelis Rogers, was even photographed with Murray backstage at London’s Cross the Tracks music festival.
Rogers was previously married to rapper Nas from 2005 to 2009, with his Grammy-nominated 2013 album Life Is Good based upon their divorce. Rogers’ second husband, photographer Mike Mora, died after an 18-month battle with stomach cancer in March 2022. Mora was 37 years old. With Nas, Rogers shares 13-year-old Knight, and with Mora, she has a second son, Shepard, and daughter, Galilee.
A source connected to the dating pair told Page Six that Murray also shares recent bereavements with Rogers. “Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap,” the source added.
Like Rogers, Murray has also been married twice before, first to Margaret Kelly from 1981 to 1996, to whom he had two sons with, and to costume designer Jennifer Butler from 1997 to 2008, who Murray shares four sons with.
The news of the rumored couple came as a surprise to social media users, some who joked about the nearly 30-year age gap between Rogers and Murray. The Ghostbusters star has also faced multiple allegations of sexual, physical verbal abuse over the years, all of which he’s vehemently denied. Due to sexual misconduct allegations that surfaced last October, Murray was dropped from Aziz Ansari’s now-scrapped directorial debut Being Mortal.
