Back in October 2020, Run the Jewels released the animated video for their latest single, “Yankee and the Brave Ep. 4,” from their album RTJ4. The video was directed by Sean Solomon and animated by Titmouse, the award-winning animation studio responsible for Adult Swim shows like Rick & Morty, Big Mouth, Black Dynamite, and more.

The video features El-P and Killer Mike on a chaotic high-speed chase, fending off robotic Nazi police officers and crashing a backroom card game along the way. “I think this [should] be a show,” Mike wrote on Instagram.

“Killer Mike and El-P would fuck up some robot cops in real life,” Titmouse founder Chris Prynoski said in a statement. “So I consider this animated music video for ‘Yankee and the Brave’ a documentary – that documents the future. The prophecy of Run The Jewels has flowed through the Titmouse animators’ hearts and into their pencils. You can watch it before it happens as magical, moving drawings.”

The group drops this video on the heels of their ‘Holy Calamavote’ benefit show, where they performed their latest album in its entirety, and Killer Mike receiving the inaugural Change Maker award at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards.

The track has since been reinterpreted through a powerful Latinx lens in 2022’s RTJ Cu4tro. That album not only broadened the duo’s musical horizons but also earned them a Libera Award in 2021. The full-length remix project was created entirely by Latin American artists, and the the “Yankee y el Valiente” remix made RTJ the only act to have won the award twice.

Mike also launched a digital banking platform called Greenwood Banking, targeting Black and Latinx clients. The bank will include 30,000 ATM locations, providing savings and spending accounts with no fees for withdrawing money.

You can stream “Yankee and the Brave Ep. 4” on all major digital streaming platforms.
