Here’s What Authorities Believe Happened At The Food Lion Store In North Carolina

According to CBS 17, police believe that the man suffered a medical emergency on the evening of Monday, September 9. He reportedly passed away inside of the freezer. Additionally, the man has not been publicly identified.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the company reportedly shared a statement about the tragic incident with Fox News.

“We express our deepest condolences to the associate’s family and friends. Food Lion is cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this unfortunate incident,” the statement reads. “As always, the safety and well-being of customers and associates are daily priorities for Food Lion, and we are committed to ensuring a safe place to work and shop. We are providing resources to support our associates during this difficult time.”

A Woman’s Body Was Discovered In An Arby’s Freezer In 2023

Unfortunately, the unidentified North Carolina man is not the only individual to be found in the freezer of an establishment. As The Shade Room previously reported, in May 2023, Arby employees in Louisiana discovered the body of their deceased coworker, Nguyet Le.

“A situation like this is unusual, so we’re taking extra precautions during the investigation… [We] pretty much have completed our process at the crime scene. After completely processing the crime scene — this does not seem like a homicide, it seems like an accident,” authorities revealed at the time.

Later that month, authorities revealed that Le became trapped in the freezer due to a faulty lock. The mother, who reportedly worked at the location with her son, “panicked once locked inside and beat her hands bloody trying to escape.”

Furthermore, her autopsy reportedly determined that she passed away from hypothermia.
