Rihanna attends The Daily Front Row's 11th Annual Fashion Media Awards - Inside

Rihanna always knows how to make an entrance, and when she popped up at Daily Front Row’s NYFW Fashion Media Awards, all eyes were on her.

While on hand to present her friend and Fenty Beauty‘s creative director, Jahleel Weaver, with the Magazine of the Year award, the Bajan billionaire rocked a $20,000 bubblegum pink Alaïa teddy coat over a bustier-style sheer dress. Weaver and his partner Katie Grand, who received the award for their publication Perfect Mag, were treated to a one-of-a-kind speech Rihanna style.

“I got called for this less than 36 hours ago,” the mother-of-two said, while throwing her haute couture coat onto the ground. “I wrote this speech in the car because it’s my friend, and I have to show up for my friend.”

Later in the evening, the pop star made an appearance at the Alaïa fashion show and struck up a bit of shady controversy after she ignored supermodel Naomi Campbell and stylist Law Roach.

The pair do not follow each other on social media and have spent years seemingly avoiding any photographs together. Naomi addressed the potential beef between them during an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in 2017.

“Everything’s fine,” she said in response to a question about the pop star. “I’m an actress now, Andy.”

She continued,

“I don’t have beef especially with Black women. The support is powerful, we are all out there doing the same thing. We all have the same struggle.”

Still, fans could not help but point out the air between the two when Rihanna walked into the room, greeted former British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful and seemed to deliberately walk past the supermodel without a greeting.

Nonetheless, it’s NYFW and both of our queens are showing up and showing out. Naomi took a trip down memory lane and walked in Ralph Lauren’s show in the Hamptons, calling back to the brand’s iconic and groundbreaking spotlight of Campbell and model Tyson Beckford in its 90s campaigns.
