Patrick Mahomes Sr. has avoided a 10-year jail sentence after pleading guilty in his third driving while intoxicated case.

As a star athlete no matter how hard you fight to control your clean image some things are just out of your hands. No matter what you do you can’t control family or friends. For Kansas City’s star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, his father Patty Mahomes Sr. is yet again bringing more trouble around.

Earlier this year on April 3 Texas prosecutors charged Mahomes Sr. with felony DWI 3rd or more in Smith County. With this being his third driving while intoxicated charge he faced up to 10 years in prison.

According to ESPN, Mahomes Sr. avoided a jury trial in Smith County after pleading guilty to the charges. Reportedly Sr. agreed to serve five years on probation with “intense” supervision for the first year.

Formal sentencing has been set for September 23 and for the sake of his freedom hopefully, the deal doesn’t change.

In 2018 Mahomes Sr. also pleaded guilty to DWI and served 40 days in jail but only on the weekends. Drinking and driving isn’t taken lightly anywhere in the world but somehow he lucked up again. As a former major league pitcher he knows the microscope star athletes are under so adding this stress to his son is puzzling.

Also, he likely has the resources to hire a driver to take him anywhere in the world he wants to go.
