More Details On The Tesla Recall

According to the Daily Mail, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration made the announcement on Tuesday, July 30. Additionally, the recall was reportedly prompted “over fears of a software failure that can result in a failure to detect an unlatched hood.”

The outlet notes that if an unlatched hood opens while an individual is driving the vehicle, it could obstruct their view. Ultimately, this could result in a crash.

Here’s What Models The Recall Applies To & What Customers Can Do

According to Newsweek, the recall applies to “certain 2021-2024 Model 3, Model S, Model X, and 2020-2024 Model Y vehicles.”

The outlet reports that the company has released an “over-the-air software update” to correct the latch issue. Additionally, customers will reportedly be “sent a notification” if their vehicle is affected.

More On Tesla’s Previous Recalls

Last month, Tesla also issued another recall for “most” of its Cybertrucks, per Newsweek. The vehicle reportedly experienced an issue with its “windshield wipers and exterior trim.”

Furthermore, the outlet reports that over 11,000 vehicles were affected by the recall.

Additionally, in December 2023, Tesla issued a recall for over two million vehicles, per The Shade Room. At the time, it was reported that the cars experienced an issue with its “autosteer feature.” This ultimately increased the risks of crashes. Per Tesla, autosteer allows drivers to keep their hands near the wheel as the car utilizes sensors to maintain or switch lanes.

“In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, and the driver does not maintain responsibility for vehicle operation and is unprepared to intervene as necessary or fails to recognize when Autosteer is canceled or not engaged, there may be an increased risk of a crash,” a letter issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration read.

At the time, the recall arrived on the heels of an investigation into the company regarding previous crashes related to the feature.
