This past weekend (June 25), Busta Rhymes was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 BET Awards. The award, described by BET, “recognizes industry pioneers who have made a notable impact on culture and entertainment.”
“A lot of greatness from our people and our culture is by default ‘cause it’s just the magic that we have,” Rhymes said during his acceptance speech. “I just am grateful for the blessing that has been bestowed upon me and this gift that I have been given, and this fire that continues to burn as a passion in my soul.”
A guest-loaded tribute performance followed, which included appearances from longtime friend Spliff Star, Coi Leray, M.O.P., Scar Lip, Skillibeng, Cutty Ranks, and more.
Prior to all of that, Rhymes released the first focus track form his forthcoming 11th album, “BEACH BALL,” with BIA. According to Swizz Beatz the album is to be executive produced him, Pharrell, and Timbaland.
