The saga of Kanye West continues. On Wednesday (June 7), a clip titled Donda Mini Documentary came to YouTube, showing behind-the-scenes footage behind West’s tenth studio album Donda. Scenes from the 5-minute video show West meeting and recording with Rick Rubin, Playboi Carti, and more.

Also in the video, the 24-time Grammy-winner is seen on a phone call where he warns that collaborators who don’t attend his Donda listening event at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Superdome would be removed from the album’s final version.

“Everybody that’s not here, I’m taking they verses off. So I’m taking JAY-Z verse off, I’m taking — there’s anybody not here, unfortunately, they’re not on this version,” West says before turning to the camera. “How do you even describe these kind of conversations bro?”

Although JAY-Z, who appeared on the Grammy-winning Donda track “Jail” didn’t attend the event, his verse remained on the song. It’s unclear what other collaborators were removed, although Soulja Boy previously trolled Ye for his disappearing feature on “Remote Control.” In November 2021, West went to Drink Champs, where he explained that Soulja Boy’s verse wasn’t up to par. West later apologized to Soulja Boy, also sharing a text exchange between the two.

Released in August 2021, Donda debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 100 chart. Additional features on the album included Lil Baby and The Weeknd (“Hurricane”), Baby Keem and Travis Scott (“Praise God”), Young Thug (“Remote Control”), Don Toliver and Kid Cudi (“Moon”), a posthumous verse from Pop Smoke (“Tell the Vision”) and more.
