The Fast & Furious franchise might be on its tenth main installment with Fast X, but the series is far from over. In a new interview with Variety, Vin Diesel, who’s played Dominic “Dom” Toretto throughout the two-decade-long franchise confirmed that other F&F movies are in the works, including an all-female version.

“I started developing the female spinoff…in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the projects,” Diesel shared while appearing at the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project Block Party on Saturday (May 20).

Although it’s unconfirmed how many future F&F installments are left, the street-racing action franchise began in 2001 with original cast members Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Jason Statham, and Sung Kang. Throughout the 2000s, a rotating series of stars have joined the franchise including Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, John Cena, and Bow Wow.

Fans have assumed that F&F would end with an 11th installment, but Diesel explained that a 12th and final film would likely end with a trilogy.

“Look how many characters and great talent there is in the movie,” Diesel said. “There was no way I can pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. These characters are appealing and we need to see more of them.”

However, Rodriguez (who plays Letty Ortiz, Dom’s wife in F&F) shared that she currently doesn’t have an interest in rejoining the lineup for spinoffs. “You pass the baton on. You take the back seat,” she said. “You go passenger side. When it comes [to] the next generation, you have to. It’s the only way to let them define the future.”
