Chance The Rapper is sharing his experience with co-parenting in the wake of his high-profile divorce. During a sitdown with CBS Mornings, the Chicago rapper talked about his split from Kirsten Corley; the former couple share two children, and Chance talked about the current state of their family dynamic.
“She’s good,” Chance replied when asked about his ex. “Hey Kirsten! And hey, Kensli and Marli. You know, family is one of the biggest things for me, for her, for my kids, for my mom and dad. So I think the most important thing for anybody that’s having to navigate that is making sure you keep an environment for the kids where they understand that’s the priority.”
Chance is dropping his new album Star Line this Friday (Aug. 15), the follow-up to 2019’s The Big Day. He shared the lead single, “Tree,” with Lil Wayne and Smino, earlier this month. In his interview, Chance revealed that his song “Space and Time” is about his family.
“I think it’s a very personal song about, you know, what we were just talking about, navigating that relationship with the mother of my children.”
The rapper says the new project reflects the change his personal life has gone through in the last six years, including his divorce.
“It’s always just a good thing to, as an artist… release and to like, you know, just share with the world,” he added.
The couple married back in 2019 and announced their split last year.
Chance the Rapper also announced that he’s heading on the road for a new tour. The trek is called the And We Back Tour, and it takes place across North America in September and October. See tour dates below.
