Beyoncé made sure to end her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour with a bang in Las Vegas. The diva brought out Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for an unexpected Destiny’s Child reunion, and the trio brought the house down at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday (July 26). It was the Grammy-winning group’s first performance together in seven years.
After Bey declared “It’s Destiny’s Child, b___ch!” she emerged alongside Rowland and Williams as the familiar intro of D.C.’s smash “Independent Women” began to play. They ran through a medley of Bey’s solo and group hits that included “Lose My Breath,” Bey’s “Energy,” and their anthem “Bootylicious.” This was Destiny’s Child’s first performance together since Beyoncé headlined Coachella in 2018.
Destiny’s Child also reunited in 2023 – but it wasn’t for a performance. The group – including original members LaTavia Roberson and Letoya Luckett – were together backstage during Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour.
The Vegas shows marked the end of Bey’s campaign for her Grammy-winning album COWBOY CARTER, but the tour had no shortage of memorable moments.
In early June, she closed out the NYC stint of the tour with a nod to her hubby, Jay-Z; then she concluded the international leg of the tour with a show in Paris and a guest appearance from Jay. During her shows in the U.K., Bey gave a shoutout to Sir Paul McCartney for writing the Beatles’ song “Blackbird,” which Beyoncé famously covered (stylized as “Blackbiird”) on her COWBOY CARTER album.
“Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made. Every time I sing it, I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter’s design,” Beyoncé wrote in an Instagram post.
On a downbeat note, after her shows in Atlanta, unreleased music and other items were stolen from a car rented by her choreographer, according to CNN. She’d just performed July 10, 11 and 13 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
