Tabitha Turner requested a simple Uber ride home from the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. However, she got more than she bargained for when her request for AC on a hot summer day led to Uber driver Nicole Smith allegedly macing her in the face.
Was it an act of self-defense? Or is something larger at play with violence and rideshares?
Now, The Shade Room’s Justin Carter is looking into the entire ordeal on ‘TSR Investigates.’
What Happened To Tabitha Turner During Her Highway Uber Ride?
According to Turner, the sports commentator, she touched down at the Atlanta airport after wrapping a work trip. Per Miguel Dominguez, Turner’s attorney, she requested an Uber Comfort to the location. Therefore, the service gave Turner the option to personalize her ride with accommodations such as preferred car temperature and more.
“So she gets in there. There’s no air conditioning on, and she doesn’t complain for a while because she’s thinking, ‘Maybe when we get on the expressway and all of this hot air starts rushing into this vehicle, maybe the driver will realize… and she’ll put the air on,” Dominguez explained to Carter, adding that the driver had the windows down in the vehicle.
Per Carter, as their trip got underway, Smith turned the AC on. However, she did not roll the windows up. At that point, Turner complained to Smith, and she got irritated. Per Dominguez, Smith then pulled over while driving on the expressway and ordered Turner to exit the vehicle.
More Details On The Incident Involving The Uber Driver
According to Turner, she didn’t feel the location was safe for her to exit the car. In addition, she informed Carter that she had asked Smith to call the police so the incident could be recorded. Instead, things got heated, with Smith repeatedly asking Turner to exit the vehicle and ultimately macing her.
