Sixers star Paul George is blasting NBA media for alleged meat-watching in the locker room.
Paul George has departed the Los Angeles Clippers after signing a hefty four-year deal worth $212M with the Philadelphia 76ers. George’s departure comes after several years of carrying the Clippers on his back with minimal support from Kawhi Leonard. Injuries sidelined both teammates, with George playing 76 games last year for the first time in this decade.
When he’s not on the court, however, Paul is slowly becoming a media powerhouse with his show Podcast P.
According to TMZ, George recently used his platform to back claims from his NFL brothers about penis-watching media reporters. After alleging he’s noticed reporters peaking at players’ private parts, George called for banning media in the locker room.
“I would say majority of the locker room, bro, they’re naked [when reporters come in],” George said. “Like, we’re in towels. We’re naked. We just got out the shower. And then you have these reporters in there and, like, they’re not staring at a wall, you know what I mean? They’re looking at us.”
One reporter from George’s time in Washington was called out directly for allegedly staring at penises while athletes dressed after games.
“There was an incident, even way back in my time in the NBA, where guys would talk about this situation. There was a reporter in Washington that would stare at dudes’ meat,” said George.
The NFLPA recently released a statement addressing the allegations and the need to amend the media policy.
“The NFL’s current media policy is outdated. We, the NFLPA Executive Committee, urge the NFL to make immediate changes to foster a more respectful and safer workplace for all players. In the meantime, we encourage each player to ask for interviews outside the locker room during the week.”
In an era of player empowerment, it’s surprising that this issue hasn’t already been resolved. Players shouldn’t have to request interviews outside the locker room to receive privacy, it should be the norm. Hopefully, a resolution can be found immediately.
