Statik Selektah is back with album number ten!
When you start looking at the top DJs in hip hop, Statik Selektah’s name has to be towards the top right now. If we’re talking consistency, few do it like our mfn guy from Lawrence, MA.
In 2007, after years of working radio, Statik released his debut album, Spell My Name Right: The Album. Since then, he’s popped up every couple years with another one. There was Stick 2 the Script in 2008, 100 Proof: The Hangover in 2010, an epic run with Duck Down Records (2011’s Population Control, 2013’s Extended Play, 2014’s What Goes Around, 2015’s Lucky 7, 2017’s 8), and 2020’s The Balancing Act (which is still in heavy rotation around these parts).
Now, following a handful of collaborative projects, Statik is back with his tenth studio album, Round Trip.
“Ten years in and I still love this shit,” Statik says. “I’m just trying to carry on tradition for those that paved the way and those we lost on the path. At the end of the day, it’s all about making it home – to what matters – on that round trip.”
Equipped with 20 tracks – led by “Unpredictable” with Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, and Method Man – the guest-heavy release includes features from Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher, Ransom, AZ, Stove God Cook$, Rome Streetz, Russ, Termanology, and more.
Press play and be sure to add Round Trip wherever you get music.
