A recent sexual assault case against Snoop Dogg has been dismissed. In documents obtained by Radar Online, the 51-year-old Long Beach native was named in a lawsuit by a woman accusing him of sexual assault. Under the pseudonym Jane Doe, the woman alleged that the rapper, born Calvin Broadus Jr., used intimidation and coercion to illicit sexual acts ten years ago during a recording studio encounter with the artist and his mentor Bishop Don “Magic” Juan.
A majority of the lawsuit was tossed by a California judge, but Doe was given notice to refile an amended complaint in federal court by a specific deadline. When the woman failed to refile on time, the lawsuit was dismissed.
In February of last year, ahead of Snoop’s Super Bowl LVI halftime show, the alleged victim sued the West Coast rap icon, claiming that he forced her to perform oral sex on him at his recording studio in 2013. The rapper’s team called the move “meritless” and “extortive,” and the lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed in April.
In July 2022, the woman and her legal team resubmitted the lawsuit at a California district court, with the original sexual assault and sexual battery claims, along with an additional defamation claim from the amended complaint in March.
Referencing an Instagram post that the rapper made, the woman claimed that he attempted to “threaten, intimidate and coerce [her] into not exercising her constitutional rights to engage in a mediation.” The revived lawsuit also says that Snoop threatened to “pursue a malicious prosecution action” for “tens of millions of dollars.” The rapper also allegedly gave his spokesperson permission to reveal the woman’s identity in a statement following the initial filing.
“The complaint refiled today against Snoop Dogg by ‘Jane Doe’ and her attorney is meritless,” a spokesperson for Snoop Dogg said in a statement. “It follows Jane Doe’s attorney’s voluntarily dismissing just a few months ago her previous complaint on the alleged matter. He also dismissed an earlier complaint – this is the third try.”
