Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson has social media shook with some wild claims about the NFL. The former running back is alleging that the league allegedly tried to blackball Shedeur Sanders during April’s draft. According to Dickerson, the NFL had a plan to “make an example” out of Sanders by telling teams not to draft him. It all allegedly changed when a call was made to the Cleveland Browns, who Dickerson claims were “forced” to choose the up-and-coming athlete. Here’s the lowdown…

Eric Dickerson Makes Shock Claims About the NFL

Dickerson was spilling through a “very good source” on the ‘Roggin and Rodney Show’ on Thursday, August 21. During his appearance, Dickerson alleged that the NFL allegedly notified teams not to draft the 23-year-old, per the New York Post. The league allegedly wanted to teach Sanders a lesson. Dickerson doubled down, claiming his source is legit, saying, “This came from a very good source, a very good source.”

Now, here’s where it gets wilder. Sanders, who was projected to be a first-round pick for months, shockingly fell to the fifth round before the Cleveland Browns chose him with the 144th overall pick. Dickerson says this wasn’t a coincidence. According to him, the Browns weren’t even planning to draft Sanders until someone high up in the NFL allegedly called and forced them to take him. “Somebody called the Cleveland Browns and said, ‘Don’t do that, draft him,’” Dickerson revealed. “They were forced into drafting him because somebody made a call.” Whew!

Eric Alleges That NFL Teams Did Not Consider Sanders a First-Round Prospect

When asked why the league would go to such lengths to block Sanders, Dickerson wasn’t done yet. He suggested the NFL wanted to send a message along the lines of, “This is what happens when you step outta line.” But what did Sanders do to deserve this? That part’s still unclear. But Dickerson’s not buying the “conspiracy” label. “I don’t think there was any conspiracy here,” he said. “I think it’s relatively simple what happened.” According to Dickerson, the NFL’s plan was to let Sanders slide completely out of the draft to prove a point.

He also dropped that most teams didn’t even see Sanders as a first-round talent, despite all the pre-draft hype. “The great majority of NFL teams did not view him as a first-round prospect, contrary to what had been out there for the year previous,” the Texas native explained. He added that once you miss the first round, quarterbacks rarely go in the second or third rounds, which makes Sanders’ fifth-round slide even shadier. So, was this a setup, or did teams just not rate him? The NFL has yet to respond to Dickerson’s bold claims.

What Shedeur Sanders Said After Being Chosen By The Browns

After being selected by the Browns, the young QB kept it classy but didn’t shy away from addressing his draft fiasco. In post-draft interviews, Sanders expressed gratitude for landing in Cleveland but admitted the process was humbling. He said:

“We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything [is] possible; everything [is] possible,” he expressed, per MSN. “I don’t feel like this happened, you know, for no reason. All this is, of course, fuel to the fire. And under no circumstance, we all know this shouldn’t have happened. But we understand. We on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s a day. We’re gonna be happy regardless. Legendary.”

Sanders’ also ready to let his performance on the field do the talking. And while he hasn’t directly addressed Dickerson’s allegations, social media has been busy reacting to the report — and the Roomies are not happy.
