Logan Sharpe, a 7-year-old boy, tragically passed away after being hit in a car crash in rural Georgia. Dalton Cason, the driver of the car, tested positive for multiple substances in his system at the time of the incident. This reportedly included cocaine and fentanyl. Eight months after the crash, Cason was charged with misdemeanor DUI.

Now, The Shade Room’s Justin Carter is speaking with the 7-year-old’s mother, Shaunte Sharpe, on ‘TSR Investigates.’ Was Logan Sharpe’s case mishandled? Will the 7-year-old receive justice?

What Happened To 7-Year-Old Logan Sharpe?

According to Carter, the fatal incident occurred in the rural town of Patterson, Georgia, in May of 2024. Logan Sharpe was walking with his older siblings and older cousins when he was struck by Cason’s vehicle. He reportedly sustained broken bones and a traumatic head wound. Ultimately, the 7-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shaunte Sharpe explained to Carter that when she ran to her son, she noticed Cason was still at the scene. However, instead of sharing his shock and remorse, Cason “stared [into] space.”

“He stated that he saw a large group of kids on a sidewalk. As he approached the kids, he stated that he did not see Sharpe run into the roadway, but saw him in the road just prior to the impact. He applied the brakes but could not stop in time. After the impact, Carson got out of the vehicle to check on Sharpe. He then called 911,” the police report reads.

Was The 7-Year-Old’s Case Mishandled?

Shaunte Sharpe informed Carter that she received Cason’s toxicology report months later. It stated that he had fentanyl and cocaine in his system. Nonetheless, he was reportedly given the choice of where his car would be towed after the incident. It remains unclear whether he had ties to the chosen body shop. Additionally, bystanders noted seeing him remove items from his truck moments after the crash.

Scroll above to watch as Shaunte Sharpe details her reaction to learning that Dalton Cason received a misdemeanor DUI charge. Additionally, Carter recounts two conflicting statements received from an 80-year-old witness. Furthermore, Carter shares a statement from the Waycross Circuit District Attorney, Marilyn Bennett, on the case. Lastly, those interested in donating to assist with the Sharpe family’s legal fees and other expenses can do so by contributing to their official GoFundMe campaign here.
